This, then, is how you should pray…

November 1st, 2009

We encourage Christians to follow our Lord’s example today when we pray. Click here to download a “cheat sheet”.

It’s 13 pages so give it a moment to download. Note: The scripture verses were selected by a collaboration of 30 laymen and 121 pastors known as The Westminster Assembly.

Remember, this is not about politics. It’s all about claiming God’s promise to heal our land.

If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

-2 Chronicles 7:14

A state-wide prayer meeting!

October 27th, 2009

Would you please join us to pray for the state of Maine on Sunday, November 1, between the hours of 3:31 PM and 4:31 PM?

As you know, in Romans we are told that the civil magistrate is a minister of God and is to be a minister of justice and a terror to evildoers. We have allowed the election of leaders who have instead passed laws which fly in the face of God’s Law and supports evildoers.

But this judgment is a judgment on His people. On this Lord’s day, we plan to claim God’s promise that if his people who are called by his name humble themselves and pray and seek his face he will heal their land. In many ways our land in the state of Maine is broken, sick and diseased. We will humbly seek God’s face, repent of our sins, and ask God to heal our land.

We’re asking all Christians to come together and pray for the state of Maine. This is a statewide prayer meeting that will take place during the final hour of daylight on this Lord’s day, Sunday, November 1, 2009. We will pray from 3:31 PM to 4:31 PM.

If you’d like together with other believers, we will be meeting to join hands to encircle all physical representations of the civil magistrate, including the major civic centers, city and town halls, and courthouses across the state. If we don’t have enough people at a given location to completely encircle the building, we will simply gather in a group outside and pray. Or, folks can meet in their church buildings, homes, or simply pray alone.
